CIS arose out of a need in Louisiana to identify fraudulent contractors. I the wake of Hurricane Katrina, many unlicensed and unethical people took advantage of reconstruction and insurance dollars and weary and desperate homeowners. By one estimate, for every one licensed contractor working in Louisiana there are five that are unlicensed. Millions of dollars have gone into the hands of contractors who have produced substandard results or left work incomplete. CIS has addressed this problem by working in conjunction with the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors to develop an ID-based system that allows homeowners and other clients to use phone and internet based methods to verify legitimacy of contractors. Through these increased security measures millions of dollars can be saved by all involved parties: homeowners, contractors, and the licensing board. It is our mission at CIS to continually stay one step ahead of fraudulent contractors.
